Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho revealed he told Sir Alex Ferguson that he had done ‘some work for him’ after their Europa League win on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils did well to turn their season around with a 2-0 win to seal a European triumph over Ajax Amsterdam, much to the delight of Mourinho who has been under pressure in recent games while some criticised his style of play and philosophy.
However, an elated Mourinho took time to hit back at his critics after the match and even joked about helping Old Trafford hero, Sir Alex Ferguson win the Europa League which the Scot never won during his time with club despite being the most successful manager in the club history.
The United boss told Sky Italia: ‘I joked with Sir Alex telling him I did some work for him. Because now we have all the European trophies and I won the only one he missed.’
Ferguson who retired from management in 2013, one of the greatest managers to ever grace the round leather game due to his achievements with Manchester United, winning 38 trophies during his active years. The Scot is also fondly remembered for his hairdryer treatment that gets his players into wining mood during games.
